Default engine misfiring

I have a 2003 X Type 2.5. The engine misfires while idling only when the A/C is on...any ideas? Thank you.

Lanny, connect a multimeter across the battery and tell me the voltage that you are seeing across the battery when you are having the misfire issue. We can take things from there.

thank you for your help. Are you saying to test from the positive to the negative terminals when it misfires?

I am getting 13.0 - 13.5 when idling with A/C on and misfiring every 2 or 3 seconds. I am only getting a P1000 code but there is a clicking sound that seems to be coming from theTPS when it misfires. Thank you again for your help.

lanny, yes, I was curious what the voltage was across the battery. the 13.0 to 13.5 VDC is a little low, but still acceptable.

Because you mention the TPS clicking, you may want to check the wiring near the TPS and also for the electronics throttle. This wiring has been known to suffer damage and can lead to what you are seeing. So, give that a look over.

You may want to give the throttle body a cleaning by removing the black rubber off of the end of the throttlebody and then using some throttlebody cleaner (NOT!!!!! carb cleaner), spray out the inside of the throttle body. If you see a light brown area, then you need to try and get rid of it. For hard spots, may need to get a cotton cloth and spray some of the throttlebody cleaner on to the rag and give it a good wipe. You may find the car a little hard to start following the cleaning, but that is due to the car being "flooded". Crank it a little longer and it will start.
