Engine problem
I have just acquired an x type 2.0d classic on an 06 plate with just 63,000 miles on the clock I was driving along doing 60 mph .i went to overtake a car going slower than me so I went from 5th down to 4th to overtake as the engine revs got to 2,500 rpm the preheater warning light came on and it was flashing not steady I pulled over to the side of the road as soon as I dipped the clutch the engine stopped the ECU light didn't come on which puzzled me. I switched off the ignition then switched it back on restarted the engine and have had no problems since it has happened twice over the weekend it,s booked into garage on Tuesday but I was wondering if anyone has heard of this happening before and if so what is the cure. The car is under warranty

Hi Dai,
If you were'nt over-revving (for over-taking) on the second occassion, it could be your EGR valve is blocked up, taking it out and cleaning with carb cleaner should do it.
Other than that it could be your fuel injectors leaking, I think.
Good luck and hope you get sorted, feel free to post back with an update?
Regards, Stu

Hi Dai,
If possible, its always better to seek out help before you go to the garage?
You can save money as I have, but obviously time is the essence and it could be your fuel pump as well, but if you can include more info, it helps too.
Thanks for the reply, keep us updated and you will notbe dissapointed, thats what this forum is all about, hope you're sorted soon and fingers crossed for you!!
As it stands, you may have had a coolant leak too?
AHA, Dai, you caught me out, I will make sure I read your whole post thoroughly next time, I just realised your babe is "UNDER WARRANTY", THEY SHOULD TREAT YOU RIGHT THEN, HO HO
ATB, Stu
