So chasing down brake light gremlin, just replaced fuel pump, top fraking plastic "T" split on top cooling hoses (part's on way), battery light very intermittently lighting (battery and alternator checked and fine).
Drove the monthly lotto ticket buying trip (150 miles usually) where the kitty died last month. Added another 80+ miles this trip over 7,900 ft MT. Pass to Bear Lake. Everything doing ok. Got (again!) 20 miles from home on freeway @ 80+ m.p.h. and it kicked out of cruise and threw a single P0171 code. As a member just asked as we both found the split cooling component the same day, "Is there a Jaguar X Type virus going around"?
Oh and before leaving went to air up a low tire and rotate the tires (@5,000 each time) & the valve stem on tire was corroded and had to be replaced.
Damn this is getting no fun, fast.

I bought that tool suggested, it looks like a dandy. Still waiting for mine, now UPS update is Sept. 5 delivery (mind you, $38 fraking charged to ship by SNG). Even the post office could beat that price and timeline.
Oh wait, guess what else? Headliner starting to come off around the edges, smfh!!
Actually, the funny thing is after trying the 2 part plastic epoxy (Gorilla) and it failed, I had another product I thought was less likely to succeed. It's J.B. water weld that will even set under water (also gas, oil, hydraulic fluid and most chemicals resistant) fiberglass, PVC, copper, brass, iron & aluminium use.
I roughed up the plastic epoxy with sandpaper, cut a chunk off, mixed the putty (it's like a big tootsie roll sized putty with the 2 components on 1 outside and interior) by massaging together, applied it and damned if it didn't stop the leak. Drove it a day before going up on lotto run. Not a drop, took a gallon of my premix coolant just in case. Never dropped a drop. Still replacing the part though.
i have a product that likely would work, failing that i was tempted to try plastic welding the crack, but i figured as the crack is likely a seam, it would just get longer with time.
def glad to have that job out of the way now!.
it does feel good to have a new t'stat in there!
Just keeps coming. In a parking lot, SUV pulls up next to me (mind you where in the lot do you think I am? Yup out in the north 40), back door is KICKED open by a tween kid. BANG right in my front driver's door. One big dent down low and one smaller one higher up in front of mirror, SMFH!!
Knock on the front passenger window, guy looks at me. Knock again, again with the look, Third time knocked with the metal key barrel. "Yeah"?
Your son just dented my car. "So what do you want me to do"?
*Take a breath* How about calling your insurance company? Another 30 minutes lost to waiting I get the info needed.
YES I HAVE AND AM!!!!
after all that bearing work i took a drive and only made it 15 miles before i lost cylinder # 1
banged and crashed the 15 miles back home at a max speed of 35
lets see what fun that will bring tomorrow.
couple months ago it ejected #5 plug and coil outta the engine taking the threads with it.
im hoping i dont have to rethread cyl 1
this is getting very old very quick.
considering exiting the x type market.
the remains of the spark plug and coil.
although the plug was not threaded into the head (either stripped threads or came unscrewed..havnt checked yet) it was not easy to remove. used a combination of small needle nose pliers, nippers and lastly when it was 1/4 out , vice grips
