yes you can, simply purchase the Xenon HID head light assembly, remove the front bumper, remove the halogen head light assembly and install your new Xenon assemblies. The factory wiring harness is identical for both. It's plug and play. (new Xenon HID assemblies cost $900+ each)

If you go to e-bay, be sure to check the "adjustment screw". Normally these are already broken and the seller does not realize that they are selling a damaged part.

If you were thinking aftermarket kit. There are several to choose from.

Mine is an 02, it does not have the auto adjust lamps. You have to manually set them. I don't know too much about all the "options" it might have had from the factory. I do know tht the S-type has auto adjust if optioned with it. As far as the x-type auto adjust????

I thought ALL HID's Auto adjust from the factory. It's required by law if the lights are to be legal.

Hence y all the aftermarket products tend to say "For off-road use only"

Ok, the upthread poster who said they were plug and play is wrong. There is an extra ground wire you need to run on the HID's over the halogens. Also you will not get auto adjust without the height sensors on the front and rear wheels and the auto levelling control box. This is for US spec cars, not sure about other countries WRT to levelling.

When I modded my X-type, I removed the auto levelling mechanism from the HID's and run the extra ground wire to the chassis. I never had issues with blinding other drivers. If you left the stepper motors for auto levelling in the HID's when you put them in your car, the lights will be pointing down with no chance for adjusting them. Drop me a PM if you want the PDF with the schematics so you can see the defferences.

well i bought my car used and it came with halogen headlamps and then recently i got in an accident and when they checked the VIN for the headlamp they said it came from the factory with xenon headlamps so do you think that it will have the auto leveling feature?

How would you know if you "never had issues blinding other drivers" ?

Well Chris my off side was way out when you can see the driver of the car coming in the opposite direction quite clearly in the dark on diped beam then you know you have problems, well I had mine checked out and sure enough the adjusters were broken.
