Default Failed MOT due to back door wont open ??

Hi guys my dads x-type which he's had since new and has only done 28k on a 03 plate failed its mot due to the rear door not opening , ive read quite a few posts on here but don't see any easy answers to getting it open , im guessing I have to take the door panel off but cant work out how to get the window winder off , ive tried a flat screw driver but still cant get it off , any ideas would be great .

NOTE: an '03' Plate for those not in the UK is a vehicle registered between March and September 2003.

ahh sorry yes 2003 , well been reading my ford focus Haynes manual and it looks like they have the same type of handle and and it says to use a a cloth and force it in between the handle and back plate and pull back and forth to catch the clip and force it out so will try this later and let you no how I get on .

Well managed to get door trim off , if you prise the handle away from the spacer you can see the horse show shape clip to take off , but i can't find no levers etc to make the door open now i can get my arm inside ?

as you can see if you prise a part you can see clip , plus a couple of pics of inside , but not sure what to do now ? do I unbolt the unit ?

go on ministries of transport website and find out what a car fails on, a doors a new one on me, as long as the tester has access to test the seat belts it doesnt specify a side
