Default Final 6 Rims, Which do you like?

Hey everyone, i narrowed my rim selection down to 6 rims. Still debating. I priced them all out, and I'm going with 18's. I still have questions about tire size and lowering springs so help me out. I want the 18's but I dont want them to look like there is a large gap. One shop told me that I should lower it, and if I do that then I would have to go with a 215/35/18. If i wasnt going to lower it then stick with a 225/40/18. Then another shop told me instead of lowering it to throw 20s on it, and that he could "fit it so it would ride rough and not rub". What do I go with? And also, if i have to lower it, would it cost a lot more paying for the service and the springs? Any clue on that cost?

So these are the final selections

go with the 18's, lower the car with either eibach or h&r, run 225/40/18, and roll your fenders. problem solved!

I'm not a fan of any of them, but taste in wheels is very personal. These seem too gangsta and out of place on a Jag. I'd prefer something like this:

225/40/18 is what my Melbournes had. They don't rub with the right offset. I'd do at least 19s though and lower it. I will look gappy with any sized wheel and even gappier if you do 20s without lowering.

Expat, 85-90% of my work is traveling by car, i understand either way its going to be a rough ride, but I'm afraid I'll be more prone to damage or wear on the tire? As you can tell I'm a newbie with rims. plus if one of the rims does get jacked up, it will b a lot more to repair a 19 vs a 18, but again i want a sharp look. Jaggy I may stick with ur suggestion. Again im going for that all black and chrome look, so it may come off as a little too gangsta but as long as the rim size still looks sharp and not tacky, I think it will get what im look for

I have a 70 mile/day commute and have 235/30/20s, sport shocks and lowering springs. I actually think the car rides pretty close to what the sport suspension rode like with the 18s. Ride quality often depends on the type of tire (beyond the size). My 18s had Falken FK452s and those have highly reinforced sidewalls and are a bit brick-like even with the rather sidewall-endowed 225/40/18. My current tires are all-season rated and that seems to generally help the ride quality. 225/35/19s on Arizona roads with a good alignment in my opinion would be nice (I previously had General UHPs in that size, which felt like typical 225/40/18). Granted, I've been driving on 40 series or smaller tires since 1994, and am a bit biased.

All that said, you'll save up to $500 by going with the more common 18" fitments on the wheels and tires compared to 19" - in case that is a factor + most tire stores stock a few 225/40/18 if you ever get a flat away from home.

Edit: I would go with the first wheel pictured, but only if your car is black. If it's any other color, I would look for something a little less gangsta. Maybe OEM replica Melbournes or Arubas and you can get them cheap here

This is what my jag looks like just so you have an idea. I have the chrome bumber blades, black side markers, and the tinted tail lights. At first i wanted to go with one of the 5 spoke rims, but after going to a few shops, and considering the previous stock rims now, I'm thinking those 10 spoke Lexani's would look pretty sick.

Out of the 6 you posted I really like the Lexani and Gianna but if it were me I wouldn't put any of them on there.
What's your budget like? I'd look at some Vellano or D2Forged or Forgeline or something along those lines to be really unique. Build quality will most likely be a LOT better, too. That's just my .02c, YMMV.

We are like polar opposites and yet we both probably consider ourselves wheel snobs. Granted, I got all four wheels for about $500 shipped, so they probably look cheaper to most people.

Agreed less gangsta, look at some HRE wheels. They are pricey but well built.

I like all of them! However (going by the pictures, difficult to tell in real-life) one thing to bear in mind is that on them all the spokes go to the back of the wheel, whereas ones that come closer to the outer lip do look a lot bigger. Hence why exexpat's look huge! :-)

Honest opinion: all 6 of those wheels are uuuuuuuugly and would most likely make me cringe if I saw them on an X Type.

You can do better.

Those aren't bad at all. Never heard of them so I don't know much about them, either. What's your budget? With or without tires?

If you're replying about the Tomasons, they're German. I've seen them at a couple of UK and German websites for around 700 euros. I'd love a set, but shipping would kill the deal.....too much!!
