The underside rust issue on the 2002 has been eliminated. It probably should have gone to the crusher, but it is all fresh and clean now.

Once they started peeling back the rust, there was nothing left from the outer rockers up and into the floorpan.


Can't really go into too much detail, or show pics (nda)...but it feels like new!

As long as it was apart, and had to be reinspected, I had all the fluids and exposed tubing replaced (except for the trans). It is much easier to refresh the transfer case when there is no floorpan in the way!

I'll be honest, if I knew how bad it was, I'd have taken the other offer, bought a decent roller and swapped parts.

At least I know it's done right and it won't fall apart if it gets hit.

What a horrible job of engineering that rocker section is!

 

I applaud you for spending the money to get that done right and keeping the car running. As much as I loved my X I doubt I would have done that and would have traded it in.
