Default Instrument Cluster Panel

Hello to everyone. I have a quick question for someone that may be able to help. I recently purchased a new Instrument Cluster Panel (ICP), but when after I install it, my car will not start, so I am assuming that the ICP that I just installed will need "flashed or programmed." With that being said, i have read that it is possible to bypass the security with an OBD II scanner, so, "is this true?" If this is true, "does anyone know which specific scanner it is that will do this if it does indeed require a certain one, if it is possible?" Yes, after reading a few other posts, I will definitely do a little more investigating on some wires, including the ground wire. I would still like to know the answer though, since I have already purchased the ICP. There's nothing wrong with a back up I suppose....)..

It's part of the immo so needs programming (if it can be). Forget ordinary OBD.

Why did you change it?

My other ICP starting freaking out on me, meaning all the gauges would drop and then go back to normal pretty regularly, some days worse than others, but I noticed that the problem seem to happen more on the warmer days, but did occur on cooler days, but just not as much. I often would have to take my battery cables off and let the "computer reset," "battery charge," or "whatever the fault turns out to be." After reading some of the other posts, I do want to check some of the wiring, including the ground wire because I have read some of the other posts that makes me want to try that before going any further into the situation. I have had one mechanic to just look it over for a 2nd opinion, plus I am so picky and apparently I have trust issues because I will not trust hardly anyone else to work on my car.(lol), but he too suggested that I check the wiring in a couple of places, plus, "until the newer ICP is programmed, I do not really have any other options, and the closest Jag dealership is in Memphis, about an hour and a half away and there is not a guarantee to survive a Memphis trip due to the horrible crime rate..lol, but for real...

If you have the original cluster you could have it rebuilt. See:
BBA reman. ABS, ecu's, throttle bodies, air mass meters, MFD and catalytic converters

Or the fault may be outside the cluster but upsetting it. Like a chafed cable.

Thanks fellas, "Are there any cables in specific that are infamous for being chafed to cause this problem JagV8 that you know of," or "or is just the luck of finding it if that is the reason?"

Default Instrument Cluster Panel - Gauge error

Further to this thread is there any common failure places in terms of wire looms ? My cluster shows low temp (but may be true), but shows empty fuel at all times ... on doing the instrument diagnostics the gauge test fails and it looks like the test attempts to sweep the gauges anti clockwise rather the clockwise.

Can see it here (at about 1min 25secs) :

Any tips before I take the cluster apart ?

Sure it's not just the "sender" in the tank?

Default Instrument Cluster Panel - Gauge error

I get the same gauge test behaviour with the fuel sender disconnected so do you think that would cause the rest of the gauges to fail the self test ?
