Default Fixed!!

I replaced all the spark plugs and the #6 coil this weekend in between rain showers and the X runs like a top again!!!! No check engine light, no codes and drives like a dream.

I was a little worried because I had already sold my daily driver. The original plan was to buy the Jag, fix it and flip it for a profit but I fell in love with it and took a leap of faith that there wasn't anything major wrong with it.

I didn't get to change the oil or fuel filter because of the rain but I will this weekend. While working on it I found a few more things I need to take care of but I am really excited about getting the Jag back to it's former glory.

Thank you,
I am going to change the oil and filter and fuel filter and I also have new front rotors and brakes for the front. I am going to finish the repairs this weekend and then I can get on cleaning her up real good. I bought a new rotary buffer/ polisher yesterday so I can also get the paint nice and super shiny again.

I am really excited about getting her fixed up to her former glory and back on the road again.

Stephen,

I've moved your thread from US Lower Atlantic Region to X-Type forum.

Technical posts in the Model forum and location specific ones in the Region forum is the best way to get views and replies.

Good to hear your X-Type is running well again.

Graham

Funny how this car worms it's way into your heart. Hard not to have a soft spot for it. They are great bang for the buck used and a lot more reliable than most people think.

If people haven't caught on in the last 15 years I doubt they would start now. Hell, there is still the occasional reference to it being voted one of the worst cars of all time and just a gussied up Ford, although not as many as years ago. Love the car I have now, but definitely miss the Jag and always will.

Yeah, I know, but kind of a been there, done that thing. The car I had was pretty rare the way it was optioned and even if I bought a newer one, it wouldn't have been a manual (2005 was the last year) and nothing really changed through the years on the X other than a couple cosmetic changes. So, if anything, I would have just spent the money on my car to get everything in shape. Just wanted something else. Maybe an AWD XF down the road or an XE when I am ready for something else. But, right now looking several years down the road I could see an Alfa Guilia in my garage. Would have to be a lot less expensive used before I could afford that, but I love everything I see of that car so far.
