Default Fuel Tank Issue

Hi Everyone. Wondering if anyone has had a similar issue. I have a 2007 3.0L X-Type with the luxury pack.
Just recently I have noticed that for an unknown reason I can only fill up the tank with about 35-37 litres only. Strange given that my understanding is that the tank's usual capacity is 61 L according to the specs.
Is this the result of a pump failure between the a and b components of the tank?
There hasn't been any slowness from any gas pump filling the car. Just a reduced capacity in adding fuel and motor still runs perfectly.

First the problem isn't with the fuel pumps. One pump is to continually pump fuel over the saddle in the tank to the main pump side. They will not effect the ability to fill the tank.
Now your question is a little confusing so I am going to have to make some assumptions. Please let me know where I get it wrong.
You are filling the vehicle until the dispensing pump shuts off indicating full. Upon returning and starting the vehicle the fuel indicator is indicating only a little above Half full. Correct so far?
You will need to try a couple things so that we can determine where the fault ls. First, when the fuel dispenser shuts off, continue fueling slowly until you are absolutely sure the tank will take no more fuel. In general you have fuel up in the fill pipe.
Now does the gauge still read less than full? If so the fuel tank sending unit is defective and giving the gauge the wrong reading.
Or, did you have extreme difficulty getting the tank to take anymore fuel. If that is the case then there is a problem in the fuel vapory recovery system and we will need to look into that.
Try the experiment and get back with the results and we can go from there.
