Default Was a full size 17 inch spare tire an option?

Hello-

I replaced my spare tire with a full size 17 inch spare rim that is like the rest of my wheels, but I noticed this is not mentioned on the literature. I guess there is no way to secure the full sized wheel since there are no securing rods available

Spikepaga; My 2002 X-Type Sport has 17 inch factory OEM wheels and a matching full-size spare, secured with a tie-down screw, below. I'm not the original owner, so don't know if the full-size spare is from the factory, a dealer option, or an addition by the former owner, but the storage space is designed to fit and secure a full-size 17" spare.

Thanks that’s very helpful.

i need a long securing rod, since the 17 inch wheel goes in face up, I need a long securing rod like yours

Maybe measure it and then the OP can hunt through parts sites (may even be like the one for the S-Type).

Spikepaga: Search eBay for "Jaguar X-Type Spare Tire". Breakers sell them for $10-20, below.

FYI, OEM tires on 16" and 17" rims have the same outer diameter and width. How so? Because the diameter of a 17" rim is 1" larger, but the tire sidewall is 1/2" shorter (x 2) vs. a 16" rim & tire.

Full size spare wheel was an optional extra (£125) that I specified on mine when buying new all those years ago. Spikepaga's securing rod and plastic dished washer are Jaguar originals. Option was only for 16 and 17 inch wheels, not 18 inch.

Fortunately I was able to find the part new for 10 dollars. The full size wheel is making noise over bumps, so I am really glad these are still available.
