Fuse F48
Hi, Robert Rodriguez is my name, I live in Puerto Rico Zip 00976. Part of USA i have a 2005 Jaguar xtype 3.0L AWD with 89, 000 Miles. It runs like a new car. Have learned a lot in this forum. The situation im going through is that suddenly is blowing fuse F48 no lights right side of vehicle. Thank you in advance!
Robert, I am on travel. Let me get back home and see what fuse 48 all powers. Then I can give you a list of likely suspects and what to go after first based on what I have seen fail in the car. Just to ask a silly question, but has anyone worked on the car recently that would have involved connecting and disconnecting stuff? That is where I would atleast start at for the moment.
Robert, looking at the diagrams, what I would say you need to do is remove the following bulbs:
-right front side marker light
-right rear side marker light
-the 2 running tail light bulbs in the tail light housing
-the running light in the headlight assembly.
You don't need to necessarily remove the bulb, simply undoing the plug is going to tell us all we need to know.
With the above lights disconnected/removed, replace fuse F48 and then turn on the running lights. See if one of the easy to access plugs has power to it. If no, then you have a problem with the wiring harness and this is going to take some hand over hand troubleshooting. If you do have power, then reconnect/install 1 bulb at a time. Keep adding the bulbs until the fuse blows. The bulb that blows the fuse is your problem child. Disconnect that light and reconnect all the other bulbs to ensure you only have a single bulb that is your problem. From there, you will need to do some detective work to figure out why the light is causing the fuse to blow. If it is the rear tail lights, then I would be looking at how the bulbs are installed as you can install the bulbs in such a way that it will short the power straight to ground and blow the fuse. If you are running LED bulbs, it may be possible you have a bad bulb and it is causing the short.
If I had to place a bet on where the problem is, I will be willing to bet that you recently changed out the rear tail light bulbs and they did not get installed correctly. I have seen this a few times.
