We're still working on chasing down a few gremlins in my new 2006 wagon. One of them, the reverse parking speaker, is on hold since it's apparently up in the headliner. (Sensors seem to work, but there's no sound when the car starts up, so while the status of the parking module is unknown, there's something up with the speaker, too). The other is the right side reverse indicator, which is out. It's not the bulb, and my dad was in there testing the connection and he thinks there was a short and that someone cut it rather than fix it, but he wants to get in to get a better look and test the wiring. Also, after 4 inches of rain last week, it looks like there's a leak into the tire compartment. I think it's coming in from the weather stripping, and then leaking down under the scuff panel.
Anyway, looking for advice on what we need to disassemble to get into these, and any other tips on these problems.
Additionally, if I ever do get into looking for the reverse speaker again, do we need to entirely remove the headliner, or can we just let down the back and get to it that way?
The wiring we want to see is under the red; the blue is where I think there is a water leak Another area we'd like to get into
Novium,
If I recall properly, removing the scuff plate allows access to the wires you want to investigate. That is a matter of 4 screws by the spare and popping the clips in the front of the plate. I've replace the scuff plate on Estate and I recall those being the only connections.
For the headliner, yes, you can lower just the back portion. I did so on mine to replace the lift gate struts and the antenna base. Do have to remove the C pillar covers though to allow for headliner flexibility.
