Question Glove Box: Lamp replacement

Hello to All,
This is my first post and hopefully, some kind soul will have an answer for me?

RE: 2003 X-Type 2.5L AWD (Indianapolis)

I need to replace the light globe in the glovebox.... and it seems the bulb/globe
is very confined and difficult to access for removal ? (not so obvious )

Can someone please advise how the blown bulb/globe is removed and what
type/size the replacement needs to be ?

Thank you ....

Regards,

Either pop the light cover off from inside the glove box, orrrrr drop the box with the 4 phillip screws along the top inside edge and the 2 outer of the four torx at the hinge on the bottom. The outer torx are the only ones you need to remove

Hi Brutal,
Thanks for your time....

Hmmm.... that is the key to my question.
How does one - Pop the light cover off ?

There seems to be some sort of wire retainer.... but I didn't want to force anything and thus perhaps cause breakage !!

Further thought is required here... (or a Workshop Manual)

well its only 4 screws and 2 bolts, about 30 seconds of work to have the whole thing in your hand

Well... I'm wondering how much lead is attached to the bulb holder, if box is removed like you suggest (with bulb holder) how much manouvering room will one have ?? (can see problems)

I mean you would never pull the motor out.... just to change the plugs - eh?

Mate, I think removing & replacing the spent bulb the conventional and intended way (whatever that is) is the only way to go.

I'm surprised no one else has answered this query already.... given it is such a minor (and one would think) straight forward task ?

I'll keep on hoping... (in the dark - for now)

All the best to you,
Larry

Hehehe, your point is made and taken onboard... thank you.
However I am really surprised that no one appears to know how to properly change a spent light globe - in the X-Type Glove Box ?

Are there any Irishmen... at the forum ?

Larry

Dear hlgeorge and brutal,

FYI...
Looking at this matter in broad daylight... my first clue
came from looking at the adjacent passenger door courtesy light ?
Yep, its the same kind/size of bulb... (BU501)

So, using a small pair of pointy nose pliers - I gently
gripped and pulled on the spent Glove Box bulb and
it came straight out. (viola)

Replace new bulb - went in just as easily ?

Job is DONE... and the light is working again.
(Fixed the OTHER proper way - )

Regards,
Larry
