Default Going to Dealer for Service - Any Pointers?

New owner of a 2007 with around 2500 miles left on the factory warranty. Have noticed a burning oil smell, but can't find any leaks (I assume it is being burnt off by the exhaust manifold). I also have a gas gauge that when the low fuel light comes on, it just goes to empty and stays there until I fill up. So I have an appointment with the closest Jag dealership on Thursday (2 hour drive). Any other things I should have them look at while I'm there? I assume brakes and rotors aren't covered under the factory warranty (because I need them)?

I bought an extended warranty, but that will be handled by the dealership I bought it from, so this could be the only time I take it to the actual Jag dealership. Just want to make the trip worthwhile. ;-)

Tell them that when it's cold out you hear a whistling sound between about 28-32mph and that it sounds like it comes from under the car maybe from the propshaft. They might just replace it then and there. Sooner or later that will happen and that is a $1000 repair. Not harmful, but really annoying. Best to do that under warranty. If you aren't familiar with that issue do a search here and you'll learn quickly.

I second Alfadude. I replaced the propshaft on my wifes 2002 X-Type a couple of months ago, except we were hearing very different sounds than whistling, more like a whine than increased and decreased with the cars speed, but only when the engine was cold.

Re the actual service
Make sure they service the car as per the schedule
