I do believe in gremlins (especially in English cars ), HOWEVER, I agree with Sport30 in as much as I would NOT simply ignore it. Be as proactive as possible because your next "warning" might be the car stalling on the side of the road 100 miles from home. How many times in life do you actually get 2 warnings? Baseball is all I can think of right now.

If it was me, I'd check my records to see if any services are due/overdue. In my case, I'm waiting for warmer weather to do all the engine, trans, transfer, coolant flushes as preventative maint. If I saw that light, I'd be doing all those flushes right now and make a trip to the dealer for a scan. If they find something, I wasted a few dollars in fluids. If they don't, I avoid them talking me into flushes at dealer rates.

If it turns out to be the trans (you did say you were manually shifting that day so I assume you mean it's an auto), it could be something like the torque converter until it lets loose and spews metal through the trans killing the entire package. It could be something even simpler like low trans fluid that activated the light because you took a corner at just the right speed that the sump ran dry for a second.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, it's better to be safe than sorry. Good luck, and keep us posted.

My mechanic is going to fix my headlights this week, and he is going to get more information on this dash light thing. So we will see what comes up.

Sounds like there may be codes but not in the PCM, so generic tools won't find the codes.

They could well be in the TCM so either find a tool (maybe WDS, maybe Ford IDS, but definitely Jaguar IDS, probably AutoEnginuity) which can reliably read them or - horrors - visit a dealer.

I got a hold of the Jaguar date base for DTC codes and P111 means engine passed. Why it stayed on is a mystery, but as I said it has not done it again, so I am not going to worry about it.
