Hard shift damage trans?

Hard shift damage trans?
I need to solicit opinions from the people who care, as to what could probably happen if I drove my '04 X-Type with 45000 miles (mostly interstate speeds) about 1200 miles if the trans is banging into the next gear as it upshifts?
Background:
10 days ago, driving ~70mph on interstate
Run into bad rainstorm
Gearbox fault pops up
Pull codes (P1643, P1793, P0778, C1155) but can't clear
Tranny stuck in 3 or 4, but can accelerate reasonably but stay at 55
Advised probably the TCM (thanks to jaguarforum members)
Have dealer replace TCM
Codes, gearbox fault go away
Tranny now bangs as it up shifts but smooth at ~55 mph (didn't try to go faster)
Warranty company demands check tranny fluid for shavings
Tech says clean
Don't know if I can trust Jacksonville dealer to accurately diagnosis and would rather take her home to NY?
Would I cause more damage if I drove her home? If OK to do, should I limit my speed to below any specific speed?
Thank you all again. I rather trust your opinions because you really love these cars.
