Default Has anyone installed a factory parking sensor system on a car that came without?

Hi, Ive got a 2003 X-Type with the standard stereo (no NAV) and no parking sensors. I found a 2002 at the wrecker with the rear parking sensor system in the bumper, and I want to know if its possible to just plug the system into my current vehicle. Some cars come with the pre-wiring, some do not. The parts counter at my local dealer says I would have to run a complete new wiring harness but sometimes they are wrong... I have a feeling I swap the bumper valance with sensors, and plug in the module. if not, I can always run my own wiring harness and fit a reverse-sensing relay to activate the system. All I really want is to use the factory rear bumper valance with the factory installed sensors, I can retrofit the module and power supply with my own wire magic if I absolutely have to.
Has anyone ever tried this?

Also, where are the module and beeper/sounder located? I want to pull them out before the car disappears. Any comments on your experience with this system will help!
