Default 2001 x type turning but not firing up

Hi all,
any help here,, i have a 2001 x type jaguar 2.5 petrol automatic.
Been stood for a while, went to start and dead battery, so i put on a new battery. Turns but just doesnt seem to fire up. Sprayed some carb spray in, and it fires but then dies.
Car was running fine last time i drove it, so very confused.....
any help?
Karl

officer, from the sounds of things, because you can make the car run on carb cleaner (if only for a second or two), this pretty much confirms that your problem is with the fuel pump and/or the power to the fuel pump (coming from the ECU). I would first check the inertia switch (footwell area by the driver's right foot in your car). After that, you would most likely be replacing the fuel pump.

Let me double check the diagrams. There might be a fuse/relay associated with the fuel pump, but not recalling off the top of my head. Could be something that simple.

Check your fuel pressure.
