Default headlight washer sprayers...not working

just found out that this car has washer sprayers while i was fixing the hid's.
are they tied in with the windshield washer sprayers or is there a seperate switch for them somewhere?
they dont work when the windshield is sprayed. do they run off a seperate pump?
i put my air compresser where the washer hose connects and they do pop out when air is pushed to them so thats not the issue.
i didnt take the washer tank off to look at it...probably should have but i just didnt have time to play with this too much..just really needed the headlight fixed and car back together yesterday.

Mike, I looked in the JTIS and they don't mention anything about the headlight washers. So, I am not sure what to tell you. About the only thing I could recommend is hand over handing the tubing backwards and see where it runs to. From there, how the system works may make more sense.

The headlights must be on for the washers to work. They are activated by the regualar windshield washer button. They will get sprayed once, then each 6th (I think) press of the windshield washer button thereafter. I'd imagine this is to conserve washer fluid. So put the headlights "On"--not in "Auto", and press the button and see if they work.

Disco Stu55, I had the same problem and it turned out to be the headlamp washer pump. The headlamp jets are not electric, they operate under pressure from the pump and in your case the pressure is only enough to operate the right side. To check: at the Y connector for the headlamp hoses connect it only to the left side, have someone try the pump as you watch to see if it works (make sure lights are on and fluid is full). If it works it is your pump, if it doesn't then your hose or jet is clogged. Cheers.

You can follow the hoses yourself, start at the washer fluid reservoir you'll see the hose will go to a Y connector near the right headlight, one hose goes over the radiator to the left washer jet and the other goes directly to the right. Just before the Y connector is a release button connector where you can disconnect the primary hose and connect it directly to the left washer hose. Cheers

wow completely lost this thread.
still havent got them to work, i did blow air through the line with a compressor when i was changing out the bulbs.

headlight switch?? they are just always on as soon as the car starts, the only switch i have is to turn the fogs on and then reverse fogs. it wont turn the headlights on or off.

My 2002 has a rotary switch on the lower left side of the dash. There are 4 ROTARY settings, Off, parking lights, Headlights ON (Manual) and Headlights on AUTO. There are also 2 "pull" settings, one for front fog lights and the 2nd for the rear fog lights. You sure
you don't have the rotary knob??? And the lights are not on all the time in AUTO--only when it is dark enough to active them. However, as I said, the headlight washer will NOT work in the AUTO position. It must be in the "Manual" headlights on position. If you have an owners manual, there is a pic of the rotary switch on page 4-18.

JagXV6,

ghettomike's in Canada where the law requires headlamps to be on all the time.
