Smile Heated front windscreen Relay

Hi, thinking of fitting a heated frony windscreen to my '04 SE estate. Does anyone know the part no. of the required relay as Jaguar parts cannot locate individual relays without a part no.
Great site

I 'm wondering if the factory wiring is behind the dash and already in place except for the realy / fuses. There are at least 2 fuses, one for each side, the wiring is in each corner behind the dash as the right and left are separate so that would lead me to believe 2 relays as well. Good luck, if the wiring isn't there I wouldn't attempt it. It is a nice feature, only the drivers side works on mine now, the right side plug gets hot and corrodes after a couple of months, no idea why, but the defroster after the engine is warm is better.

Thumbs up heated windscreen relay

Yes, the wiring is in situ and as far as I can tell I need one relay.

The Relay should be R6 in the main fuse box (petrol & diesel) if you can find a car with one fitted that will be quickest way as the parts catalogue is no help!
Can't get to mine as car is buried under snow at the moment!

According to owners handbook there is a switch beside the rear heated window switch that operates the heated front windscreen

Thanks for that info. I have no heated windscreen at present but all the wiring is in place, but no relay or fuses. I was thinking of powering it from the rear heated screen switch.

Hi I am a memeber of another forum and have been having problems finding out the part number for the relay for the front screen as i am retro fitting it, a chap called jim helped me with the part number off his relay, 5m5t 14b192ea v23136-34-x62 (12v 70amp) Jag dealer still could not give me the jag pat number, so I have been to ford and they recogised the number straight away.

Here is the Ford part number F1425754

Hope this is of help to you

the relays are basically free at a scrapyard. Every ford in the place will have several of them... worst case they charge you a dollar for a handful of them.

The front heated screen draws a lot of current. I strongly suggest that you DO NOT connect it to the rear defrost circuit.

The factory set up has a timer that only keeps it on for a couple of minutes. I suspect if you kept it on for 15 mins or so you would really overheat it. Not to mention the load on the alternator would be damaging. It is not designed to be on for extended periods of time.
