:: HELP :: I got a FLAT and I called roadside to change my tire...
I got a FLAT and I called roadside to change my tire and he couldn't change my tire since I'm guessing my XJ VDP has Locking Wheel Nuts locks ( I know it's the X Type forum but seems the one with more activity )... I don't have the key (if there is one) when he was trying to change my wheel the nuts kept just slipping since there seem to be a wiggly aluminum cap over the nuts... anyway my car is still parked in San Francisco since it happened at 2:AM early this morning I checked my trunk and it didn't seem like there was a special attachment or tool to remove my wheels. Would any of you guys let me know if there is a special tool that i'm missing. If so it's Sunday would parts at Jaguar be able to sell it to me? How much will it cost? or simply whay the heck was road side not able to change my wheel?

From your photo you have an X350 model, so the wheel nuts should be identical to those on the X-Type. Only one of the nuts per wheel should be locking, the others just have an aluminium cover/shell so they don't rust and spoil the look of your wheels. Those caps can sometimes become detached and cause problems getting a wheel brace to grip the nut. If that happens you need to sacrifice the cap and use the 18mm nut beneath it. You should have a key for putting over the locking wheel nut on each wheel that gives you a normal 19mm nut on the other end. In your XJ that will be in a round hole in the foam jack tray at the rear of your spare wheel compartment.
Not all cars are sold with the locking wheel nut, so if all five nuts per wheel look the same then you don't have them and it sounds like your caps have come loose.

If the wheel nut stripped out like that, then I would have roadside tow it to the dealer and have them remove it under warranty. It is pretty common to happen. Warranty will pay for it and also the tow bill as long as you go through roadside assistance. 1(800)4-Jaguar option 1 I believe.

do not remove them, and while theyre a 19mm when new and undamaged, using a 3/4" socket over them is a much better choice. The 19mm fits alittle too tight manyt times and youll have hell getting the stuck ones out of the socket without damage

i also had the same problem with those style nuts a while back. I had to remove the cover to get the nut off....and most of the others were on their way out too, i bought new nuts when i upgraded the wheels. My advice is replace the nuts for the same style but without covers...you'll get bitten in the *** again....one day :+)
Also...hammering on a tight fitting socket didn't even work for me

Same Problem.
When I purchased my X-Type, one Ford Dealership won't touch my lug nuts. They recommended that I go back to the dealership that sold me the car and have them fix the lug nuts. I ended up purchasing 20 new lug nuts at a Jaguar dealership (20 @ $4.10/ea down from $20/ea a month prior). Then I purchased the correct 19mm socket. I was told that when Jaguar sold the X-Type they supplied an incorrect socket for the lug nuts. Good luck!
