Default Hi ,Just joined and Hello/ Confused/ Vibration when accelerating !

Hi there, just joined forum.
I have X type 2.0d 2007 144000 miles.
Vibration when above 50mph when accelerating eases off when take foot off accelerating , also feels as if seat is vibrating at same time and can feel it through accelerating pedal when accelerating.
Took it to garage yesterday, they reckoned drive shafts were fine . But reckoned it was gearbox but they couldn't be sure. Gave me a quote of £340 for lifting gear box out, and they would have to send it away to be looked at, and could not give me a price for that . Also , told they couldn't be sure that this is the problem ?

Confused . Com
Thanks John

could be several things.. probably not the gearboxmore likelly unbalanced wheel, bent rim, uneven tire pressure, tie rod end, wheelbearing.first try swapping wheels around to see if it feels different.the bearing on the driveshaft is known to go bad, easy to misdiagnose

If you are vibrating under a load it is probably the carrier bearing in the center of the drive shaft. To check you can get under and grasp the drive shaft on each side of the bearing and try shaking the shaft. It should not move if the rubber and bearing are good. Will move freely if it isn't in good shape.

I have the same problem, thought it was the drive trains, but I keep drive and accelerated, it got worst till check engine light is on; OBD scanned says miss fired one (could be any cylinder) cylinder, I replaced the ignition coil, the car ran smooth as before, accelerate way up to 100+mph without a hick-up.
