Default hi and some info if you could, it is an easy one!

I have read the forums here many times as a guest so know there are some people on here who are legit experts, KNOWING this, here is an easy question.

I have just got a jaguar x type 3.0
it has been driven from the uk to sicily 800miles approx
last 50miles a fuel drip was noticed (it was fine until the ferry, suspect it happened there)

I just watched a video on how to repair a fuel leak, is the tank easily accessed? right now i am 80km from the car, but do not want to go pick it up until we know how to sort it out

So i suspect it has a crack or tiny hole somewhere based on the conversations with the guy that brought it over.

SO, can i buy stuff to stick to the tank? if so what is best? IN italy, but could order from ebay uk

AND

Is the tank fully exposed?

I do not plan to go meet him until i can arrive with what should be needed to fix this.

thank you

I am mildly gutted you could say as i hoped to be driving it today.

someone will be along shortly to advise - weekends and different time zones for some of the more active members/techs may lead to slight delay in response

Sorry to hear about your issue. How easily the leak it could be accessed/fixed depends on what it is. To drop the tank is a pretty involved process. Do a search on hear and you will see what I mean. If it is just a pinhole sized leak maybe something like JB Weld or something similar could work. Not sure if that would work with a wet area though. Without knowing just what is leaking makes it hard to propose a fix.

If you could describe better where you are seeing the drip and how much is leaking might help someone more skilled than I propose a possible solution.

Wish I could be of more help. Good luck and let us know what happened and how it went.

remember the tank is plastic. I wonder if it could be leaking from the fuel filter? it could be anything really. Are the sure its a fuel leak? these tanks are hefty. Anyway let us know.

Good Luck,
The Dr!

If you've just bought the car, it may have very recently been serviced possibly including the fuel filter, have you asked?

Per the Dr I'd guess that the fuel filter may be the culprit and worth checking
