Default homelink help

Can anyone tell me exactly where the homelink 'brain' unit attaches? I looked behind both side panels in my trunk yesterday but could only find the bluetooth and cd changer hookups on the left side of the trunk.

bump - any help here? does anyone know for sure that there is more than just the overhead console that is needed for this system, or is everything needed contained in there?

I think everything is already in the car for the function, I haven't tried to get it to work since I tried with the garage door remotes.
