Hopefully not totalled!!
Well my wife and her little Jag bit the back of a cadillac last night. Luckly she is OK. I am very happy at the way the X type held up in a collision with a car twice it's size. No air bag deployment which I think will help. We have 72K on an 04' with a new TC, cat converters, oil pan seal, tires and of course a full tank of gas. Adjuster seems to think it will be a close call. My wife loves this car so if it is not totaled. I tried to post a picture but I do not think I have got it to work.

mayday, do not want to be the bringer of bad news, but the only way that they will not be calling it totalled is if your insurance company allows re-manufactured parts. At a minimum you need a new bumper cover, 2 new headlights, hood, grill, and the support across the top of the radiator. If the radiator is tweaked, then you will need a new one of those. For what the value of the X-Type is right now, I am not holding out much hope. Wish you luck.

Thanks for the thoughts on the wife. It is going to be close. I looked around at a couple salvage yards int he area and it is obvious based on the number of xtypes there that just have front end damage. The good news about this is the adjuster told me a quick value for the car with its miliage and I actually will make money on the deal. I am supposed to hear something today and I will let you all know.

Mayday, sorry to hear aout your accident, but it sounds like you will come out ok on in the end. Might even end up in your favor as if your wife likes the car so much maybe with the insurance money you can go out and find a newer X with maybe more options. Plus, now that you have owned one you have a better idea what to look for when shopping for a new one. Good luck.
If they do end up totalling it when you get the salavage price from teh insurance company make sure you double check how they calculated it. If you can make a case that they might have missed an option, your maintenance is up to date or other money spent on it, or even if you can find cars comparable to yours for sale in the area with higher prices than they are offering you might be able to negotiate that price a bit higher. You don't have to automatically take what they offer. Might be a long shot, but worth looking into.
