How do I replace key fob battery (2002 X-Type)
How do I replace the battery in my key fob for a 2002 X-Type? Mine works, but the battery must be weak since the range is limited (~10 feet from the car).
I presume once I get it open I need one or two 3V lithium batteries. Do you know what battery # and how many?
Do I need to reprogram the key fob after replacing the battery? If 'yes', how do I do this?
Thanks.

For those of you that have the Jaguar flip out Ignition/door key and need to know how to change the fob battery here are the instructions
You will need a small crosshead screwdriver, a small flat blade screwdriver, Replacement battery.
This task should ideally be completed within three minutes of removing the circuit board
First remove the key from the Fob by inserting a small flat screwdriver blade into the slot in the fob assembly and push toward the key. Always point the key away from yourself to avoid injury.

Remove the screw from the circuit board and lift the board away avoid touching the components and handle at the edges only. Take care also not to touch any connectors.

If for some reason you need to re-program your remote after changing the battery, I posted some instructions on a previous thread. Here it is: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ghlight=remote
There are also instructions in the FAQ section.
