I have a p0455 code
Hi I have a P0455 code Evaporative Emission system leak. I changed the gas cap CODE still there, any ideas of were to look OR what to look for. also get a p1000. Car runs awesome but not sure what to look for anyone out there have any ideas. Need help. 2003 Xtype 2.5 manual shift.
Bottle cracked(inside pass. fender), hose broke from tank to bottle.Has there been any work done in thoughs areas, or in general that might have damaged something.You can pull off one of the hoses and do a LOW volume pressure test ( 5 lbs or less) and listen for a leak. There is a smoke test that they do but you need special equipment for that.
From JTIS....
* Fuel cap off
* Fuel cap seal defective
* EVAP system leak (canister damage, pipework damage)
* EVAP Canister purge valve to ECM drive circuit: open circuit, short circuit, high resistance
* EVAP Canister purge valve power supply circuit: open circuit, short circuit
* EVAP Canister purge valve to engine purge pipe: restricted, leaking, disconnected
* EVAP Canister purge valve operating vacuum hose leak / restriction
* EVAP Canister purge valve failure
* Fuel tank leak
* Fuel cap off
* Fuel cap seal defective

EVAP error codes
How do you fix this problem ?
Permanent P0442 EVAP System Leak Detected - small 0.040 in
Permanent P0456 EVAP System Leak Detected - very small 0.020 in
Permanent P0430 Catalytic Converter System efficiency below threshold - Bank 2
Repairs
Mechanics have ( supposedly ) checked and verified that the Canister is OK.
Mechanics have ( supposedly ) removed the Gas Tank and Replaced ( supposedly ) the Solenoid Valve.
Mechanics have ( supposedly ) checked and Cleaned the Check valve on the throat of the gas Tank and "cleaned" the sealing surface. They claimed that it was "sticky" from "gunk" built up on it.
The Check Engine Light is still on, Steady.
I can NOT put gas in the tank without the pump constantly clicking Off. I can only get 1/4, 1/8, 1/10, 1/20 or 1/100 of a Gallon of gas into the tank at a time. It takes me 20 minutes to fill up with 18 gallons of gas.

When you fill the car and refit the gas cap.....do you wind it until you get it to click three times?
If the cap is not sealing properly, you can get evap errors.
Second thought.....has the fuel tank been opened recently for a fuel pump repair or sender unit replacement?
If the bit "O" rings haven't seated properly you can get a similar effect.

Like I said, a shop "supposedly" dropped the tank. They said it was "fixed". It's not. They ordered a new Fill Tube w/hose - but then found out ( after my expense ) that the "Check Valve" was in the throat of the tank, not the top of the Filler Tube. They claimed to have cleaned "gunk" off of Seating Rim of the Valve. Thanks.
Sorry, I had a typo in my post.....I meant the big "O" rings that seal the fuel pump access ports.
I recall that another member (Dell) had evap errors he was chasing and eventually found one of the "O" rings hadn't seated correctly giving him a slight leak and evap errors.

Sorry to bother you on an older thread, but i am having evap issues. I am in America, so left had drive. Where is and what does this bottle look like? You are the first person to mention an evap part in this area.
Thank you in advance,

RONKS2, normally that error code is caused by a bad gas cap. So, if you haven't changed that, I would do that first. the second thing I would do is clean the evap solenoid. This is located in the engine bay, just to the left of the brake booster. there are 2 little valves mounted to the firewall. To clean them is nothing more than disconnecting the tubes going to them and then disconnecting the plug. You can then spray some carb cleaner into the valves. Reinstall then see if you still have the error codes. If you do still have the codes, then you need to look under the car, back by the rear differential. You will see the evap charcoal canister there. You will see a solenoid valve there. But, the failure of this solenoid normally results in it being difficult to fill your gas tank.
