Hi all, im new here but hey I bought a 2004 Jaguar x-type 3.0 AWD it has 54000 miles, it has the rain sensor wipers, rear parking sensors, leather, moonroof etc. Well the car is a clean carfax its only a 1 owner. It is a British racing green. I bought the car for $11500!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes I know its a good deal, I found it online guess I offered him cash and needed te money. He put in brand new drilled slotted rotors with bran dnew brakes pads. The 2 rear tires are brand new. Only concern that I mentioned earlier was that when I go about 35mph+ its starts making a whoosing noise not very loud, and yes I think it might be the wheel bearing but any ideas. What do you think of the car. I thinking of putting HID, should I go 6000k or 8000k which is brighter. Someone is charging me $475 with installation included for low,high beams and fog lights what do you think. I am not gonna tint it cause they wont allow front Tint in NH, and the interior is creme so it would look bad. I have the nice 17" rims that I will stay with. Not alot of mods that you can do to the car. I am 16 years old and this is my first car. My parents bought a brand new Jaguar X-type 3.0 Silver and they loved it. Oh another think I LOVE THE SPORT MODE.

 

Congratulations and welcome to the family. First off, Post up some pics, lets take a look at her. Second, most people here will tell you to go with 8000K HID's, and $475 for all lights installed doesnt sound like a bad deal. Im sure most will say to just do it yourself...

 

Are they hard to install are the fogs hard to install?

 

HID's arent hard for main beams, but in the fogs they are annoying. Put in 6000ks if you do it, 8's arent bright at all.

I'd say 6000K HIDs are the best ones .BTW, you can also consider of getting aftermarket wood trims besides aforementioned as well

 

Good Purchase. and yes, Sport Mode rocks .... although it kills your gas

 

16 and your 1st car is a 2004 Jaguar x-type 3.0 AWD. And for a bout 1/2 the price you'd pay for it in the UK, and your petrol is cheaper, and you can even drive at 16!

I'd say 6k's as well. Much brighter, and 8k's are too purplish. You truly are too lucky at 16 getting a car like the one you got...and for that price, I give you a HELL YEAH! Good luck with that whining sound and[sm=ttiwwp.gif]

 

Ok so Im wrong....6000K are the way to go! And at you age Id be trying to do it myself, for the experience...

Welcome! Nice grab for sure! Go for the 6k if you wan't pics of the results here are mine...I paid $78.99 for the hid kit and installation is pretty easy. I wouldn't bother doing the brights with hids as you never use them anyways. Haven't done fogs but I'd love to! LINK TO MINE>>> I love the 6k's and you won't be dissapointed as they are just enough blue and still bright. Buy 2 sets and do it yourself and your looking at $73/set (he dropped the price a few bucks) so you'd be paying 146 shipped to you in about 5 days and save the extra money for some better sound in the car!

Hey aquil are they brighter than the stock lights. You said its not hard to install, its just plug in play?

 

Brighter....you could say that but that doesn't quite do it...WAYYYY brighter! They look wayyyy nicer as well. Its crazy how much better they make the car look. They are plug n play for the most part. When you've looked back there and removed the back of the headlight housing let me know and I'll let you know exactly what you have to do. PM me and I'll give you the run down...or when you have them in your hands and that is the easiest way to do it so if you have questions I'll have your answers!
