Satan Wanted His Car Back. - StanceWorks

It was an iconic stanced car and thankfully Mike Burroughs is ok

That car was sick. Seen it in person. He showed up at the fall IA meet, dragging the whole way in and out haha. Sad to see that it's gone.

I dig his e36 on the AMG wheels, the rust bucket....not so much. It sucks, especially for all the wheels that perished alongside the chassis.

Hey Jeremy, looks like it was a 320i right? That would explain it's name. I had one back in the 80s and it although had the cool factor with independant suspension etc it was rolling pile of rust colored water and exposed wiring. A nightmare that was like a Flintstone car if you sat in the back. Finally the top of the rear strut towers rusted away and the top of the struts were sitting and pressing the magnets of the speakers mounted in the parcel shelf!! I was driving when it happened and it looked similar to the 2nd picture and the radio sounded like crap too. So no offence to Stanceworks but it ain't that big a deal to create sparks with a 320i.

It was a 5-series, a whole new level of luxury compared to the 3-series of its day.

Weren't those gold wheels like 12" wide or wider? I know they were ridiculous when I saw them. I never followed the build, but I actually liked the chop top and the wheels. They were different, and gave a nice contrast to the rusted rat rod look

It makes me sad that once upon a time this was one of the most pristine black 5 series I've ever seen. I couldn't find any pics of it back when it actually looked like a nice car. Once he started going all rat rod with it this was my favorite stage of the car...

Like any longstanding successful object in media, he had to keep reinventing himself. Think Madonna, U2, Rihanna and Lady Gaga. But in this case I agree with you, it was more the Kirstie Alley/Michael Jackson model of metamorphosis and self neglect.
