IDS programming options...
Took my car to a LandRover dealer this morning who said he would try and eliminate the PECUerror on my speedo since upgrading to premium sound as he has an IDS machine and offered to try anddo it for free.
On the IDS machines there are 2 options for further menus for enabling Premium Sound.
One option is Premium Sound (which he went into and enabled the CD etc) the other is option isPremium Sound (audiophile) which he didnt know about and he was reluctant to go into incase it damaged any other ECUs/management boxesin the car.
What is the difference with the audiophile option?

RE: IDS programming options...
NAS cars have audiophile if they have seperate amp. Base is just crap speakers run from audio unit. Premium is upgraded but still running from audio unit. Audiophile has seperate amp and sub. I always programme as audiophile on vehicles with amp and subs and never had a problem.

What is NAS? Is it North American vehicles?
Re the programming
PECU error has been displayed since adding amp. However everything works as before 90% of the time, sometimes the sound goes off and whatever radion station on preset 1 is displayed also cant select CD from the headunit.Turning the ignition off and back on normally restores things.
It seems to forget what has been programmed and reverts back to non-premium and no CD changer each time it has subsequently been hooked up to an IDS.Even though amp and CD as said works 90% off the time and it has had a CD changer from factory when new.
Maybe programming with audiophile will be the answer as it is a 2002 car but has the 2004- premium system with seperate amp to bass.

RE: IDS programming options...
For anyone that has access to the wiring diagrams for these cars:
Look at say a X-Type wiring diagram. ICE. Standard shows like 4 speakers from audio. Then premium shows 8 speakers and subs....still from audio.
Then look at say 2005 XJ - doesnt show standard. But shows premium - 8 speakers running from audio unit, no amp and no subs. Then next page is premium (audiophile) with 10 speakers and 2 subs....all running from the amp.
I had to explain this to one of our old timers who said none of our cars were audiophile. He would programme as premium and they would always come back....lol
Basically....if the car has seperate Amp.....it is Audiophile.

RE: IDS programming options...
Had the specialist try to program the amp/headunit using premium audiophile options but it keptreverting to premium and PECU ERR error still there (wonder if this is because its a 2002 car (which would have premium if fitted) with a 2004- premium upgrade (which would have premium audiophile if fitted) ??).
They suspect amp or wiring so I am going to try and source another amp.
