Default Inner tie rod end replacement

Seems our x needs a new inner tie rod. Has anybody done it on an X type. Do you need one of those tools or can you get at the rack from under the car. Didn't pull the wheel to look but can see and hear play in there. Funny what you find when you drive the wife's car for the first time in months. I swear she wouldn't notice if she didn't have wheels.

Default Click in steering rack-not solved with inner tie rod replacement

So I replaced the inner and outer tie rods on my x type today in my wife's car. Drove it a week ago and the steering was a bit wooly. When I turned the wheel with the car off it gave a click as well. Seemed to have a little play so out it came. Well the click is still there but now there isn't the play that I could feel before. Seems to be coming from the same side of the rack somewhere around where the column attaches but of course I can't see behind the subframe. Anybody come across anything similar? Car still seems to drive a bit wooly but I do have a blown stabalizer link on that side as well that could be contributing to that (had a new one but didn't have a 6 point 15mm socket small enough to take it out today and the 12 point didn't grip well enough to trust not stripping it out).

Thoughts welcome. Oh and it is a little down in fluid (at the lower mark on the dipstick). Don't think I've ever checked it in the 50k we have had her (now at 142k or so). What fluid does it take?

If you're talking about power steering fluid, it's Dexron III ATF. You can see a full list of fluids, filters, etc. by using the online lookup on amsoil dot com. BTW I recommend you replace both front sway bar links.

Figured it was just dex 3. I got one as that was all that was in stock where I ordered it from for now. Only one was in stock so that is all I got for now but that isn't causing the clunk. I'm sure I could remove both and my wife wouldn't be the wiser.
