Default installing ac compressor, couple quesitons please

Hi i will be putting in a salvage A/C compressor this weekend and i'm unsure about a couple things. First off when draining the existing system do i just release it into the atmosphere or is it freeon and i should handle it differently? Also im sure theres a proper way to release the tension on the belt but i have no clue how, can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

have the freon sucked out by a shop, dont F^^&)up our environment more than already. to release the tension use a 3/8" drive long ratchet to rotate the tensioner pulley to the left and slip the belt off only the compressor

Matl, I don't know the type of oil that is used in the car, but most of the R-134a that you will find, will have the oil pre-mixed in. So, there is no need to add oil to freon that already has it in it. The JTIS simply calls it "refrigerant oil". As long as the oil is compatible with R-134a, it will be fine for your system.

As for the amount of freon, 28 ounces sounds around right. The 5 ounces of oil is also correct.
