Default JAG Type 2008. won't start. dash showed Gear Box problems

Late last year, JAG XType 2008 2.2 diesel.dash showed gear box faults DPF fault. took to jag dealer, they kept replacing sensors not being abled to link up to the computer. they had no answers. They kept replacing bits without knowing what was wrong and costing me a fortune. got them to put back the old sensors and drove it home. next day, broke down after 100 yards, and now won't start. This is now 4 weeks. I have replaced sensors myself, new battery, EGR, DPF, DPF sensor,CRANK SENSOR, MAP, MAF, ECU was damaged and repaired. Still won't start. HELP.

The only way to troubleshoot systematically is with a scantool. As you have already found, throwing parts at a Jaguar rapidly becomes very expensive.

We can all speculate what MAY be wrong but only a scantool will give the error codes to indicate what IS wrong.

Nicky, well, you can replace all the sensors you want, but if your security system is denying you the ability to start, the car will never start.

With this being said, try starting the car with a different key. We have seen where the computer will loose the programming for a key and it will suddenly not let you start the car with that one key. If you happen to have more than 2, try all of the keys.

Next, turn the ignition to the RUN position and then put your foot on the brake. Shift the car to NEUTRAL. With your foot still on the brake, turn the key to START and see what you get. Make sure to look down at the center console to look at the red LED next to the cup holders. Is that red LED light on? If yes, then this is confirming a security lockout.

Have you noticed that your instrument cluster has been giving you funny indications (ie, a gauge not working, none of the gauges responding momentarily then jumping back to where they should be)? If so, then odds are your problem is related to the instrument cluster.

That should give you a place to start.
