Welcome to the forum. Please take the time and post an introduction in the new member section (forum requirement) and lets us get to know you better. Your profile is a little skimpy but it would be helpful to know what part of the USA and what model year x-type you have . It helps make advise as correct as possible.

Blend doors are a common problem and there is a lot of info you can find by searching the x400 forum. Below is a couple for you to review. The first has a method for repair of the blend door. It does not require removal of the dash. You only need to remove the dash when replacing the entire air unit. I have included a link to the profile for Dr dome a forum member who parts out x-types. He can provide you with repair parts. at a reasonable cost.

Is the blend door broken OR is it the actuator/drive connection?

Default Jaguar x-type broken blend door

Hi I’m fresh 55n9ne from California USA.I had the engine swapped the heater allways worked until I picked up my car from the shop.the day my engine was swapped,I instantly noticed that the heater would not blow hot air when put on hi. I started doing repairs I flushed out the heater core it was not clogged. When I put everything back together no difference at all. Next day I put a new thermostat,no difference with new thermostat, next I changed the climate control unit and temperature blend door actuators, and turned all the the vents manually still no difference, next I did a temperature control reset still no difference. So I took it in to a shop they told me that everything is working that the next step would be to take the dash board off and open up the air box I’m wondering what could affect the heater from the engine swap and help would be appreciated, I have had my x-type for 5 years I have never ran in to this problem the a/c is blowing cold air fine.

Thanks for getting back to us and for the additional information. Odds are there is nothing wrong with your blend door. I would bet that the shop did not follow the procedures for burping the air out of the cooling system and the heater core is "air blocked". Follow the link below and at the bottom of the page the last entry is a pdf copy of the tech manual. Got to the section for removing air from the cooling system and follow the steps there and them let us know how it worked out.

Default Jaguar x-type no heat Not solved

There is no air in my cooling system. I used a coolant system fill kit for 1 hour. there was no air in the cooling system, or in the heater core.there is heat on the input and output from the heater core hoses,I have 180 degrees from the input and 170 degrees on the output return hose from heater core the heater matrix is working fine. bleeding the cooling system did no difference on temperature inside the car,I have a broken temperature blend door.I need to replace the ac and heater assembly. I need help on how to remove dashboard and How to install the new hvac box that is my problem with my vehicle everything else that is a part of the heater system has been replaced

Follow the link I posted and download the tech manual. The steps for removal of each of the dashboard components is listed. You will have to start at removing the center counsel and go step by step for info on each of the components. Climate controls, radio, glove box, instrument cluster, etc, etc, etc,
