Default Juddering whilst accelerating at motorway speeds?

Hi Folks.
I recently bought an 04 2.0 Diesel S which has been generally a positive experience. The car has a couple of squeaks and rattles but it is 14yr old so is forgivable.
Whilst driving on UK Motorways the car has a front end vibration/judder whilst accelerating above 55/60mph which stops when I lift of the accelerator and is also not there when urban driving.
My local mechanic took it for a brief spin and popped it on the ramp this morning and everything seems fine. There is no play in any of the drive shafts etc. Just wondering if any fellow X Type drivers have experienced similar issues?

Can you "drive through" the vibration? If it occurs at a specific speed range (obviously not occurring @ slower speed) 55/60 as mentioned. Keep increasing speed and if you "drive through" the vibration, it is nearly always 100% of the time unbalanced wheels/tires.

Hi there. Thanks for the pointer :-)
I'll give that a go later today-
Just a thought though. The judder occurs when accelerating but disappears immediately when I take my foot of the accelerator. If it was a wheel balance issue would it disappear as soon as I take my foot off the accelerator? Thanks again for your input.
Regards
PT

Is yours a manual or auto?
It could be the dual mass flywheel on the way out (if it has one).

Good morning
It is a manual transmission. Dual Mass Flywheel? Sounds expensive! :-(
