Default Just got the wife a X-Type

Just picked up a 2003, 2.5 X-Type, Gold with 55,000 one owner miles. She loves it!! It is very small for my 6'3" 275lb frame. But its her car and I like it as well!! It came with new tires and the balance of the Jaguar 84mo/75,000mi extended warranty that expires 12/09. It is spectacular, so far . This search has really been a chore! Oh by the way $8000.

Whomever said "diamonds are a girls best friend" obviously never had a Jaguar.

I am 6' 5" 220lbs and I fit in my 02 X quite well. Sure, I'm sitting in the back seat to drive, but hey, at least I can see the traffic lights!

Hi Troy,

Congrats on your wife's new X-Type. Thanks to you, I now have the green light to go X-Type shopping to replace the Ford POS. Not sure if I pulled off the slick move of the century or bit off more than I can chew. Looking at 2003's in the $8-10K range but will be adding an extendedwarranty, price as of yet unknown. Regardless, it looks like my weekends will be full and JTIS will be my friend.

Warning: political cheap shot - If Hillary had gotten Bill an old Jaguar, he wouldn't have gotten impeached as he wouldn't have the time or money to do anything else other than his day job and keeping the kitty running.

carelm,

My advice would be to look a little newer than 2003. Figure that car is 6 model years old already. I bet you could score a 2005 or newer for around $12k if you dig around a bit. Maybe even find one with some factory warranty left.

Thanks Chris for the advice. It may take some doing as the going rate seems to be about 14-15K. I may try to go to same dealer that I got my S-Type from and try a low-ball offer and see if they go for it. I would definitely prefer a Certified Jaguar though. I have the distinct feeling this may be a long drawn-out process especially since I will be in England on business starting late Feb for about a month. I will be scouting around for some Jag stuff on my free time.

Welcome to the forum!

Not a bad idea to have the warranty, but we'll be here if you have a problem (or at least someone will!)
