Post Keeps going to Limp Home Mode

Hello

My 2.1 2004 xtype has had a few issues with Limp Home Mode, if it has been idoling at the lights it will not go past 3000 rpm or if Im driving at 60km for a while same thing. This dose not happen every time but dose happen constantly. I have replayced the air flow meeter, put through fuel cleaner and changed the Fuel and air filters. Can any one offer some advise.

Thanks

Jeffre

Hi Jimmy

Unfortunately no error codes, was wondering if it could be the TPS needing to be recalibrated?

Thanks for the response

So no check engine light, or just no codes? Mine went into limp mode every time it rained, turned out to be a moisture leak and the TCM got wet. It would dry out and be fine until it rained again.

Neither no light & no codes and it dose it whether it is dry or wet. Just to clarify I would need to connect the car to a diagnostics machine to get the codes? I had a mechanic who was putting new tyres on plug his diagnostics in and the only thing I got was it is idling lean. Since then I have replaced the Air Flow meeter.

The car does not enter limp mode without registering a code in the ECU.

I dont understand why you are saying there is no code. There must be. Has the dealer hooked up their computer and told you there is no code? They are the only ones that can get the real reason for entering limp mode. I dont like that they have us by the short and curly's but that is how it is. Limp mode is not coverd by OBDII and there are no codes that can be read by a home or independent repair shop code reader.

Hello Jimmy

Thank you, for straightening this out it was an independent mechanic who told me there were no codes. I will contact the dealer and arrange them to connect their computer and find out what is happening.
