just got the car...remote locking fob does not work, does it take a battery available at walmart "et al"
how does the fob open up?

It's on the cards a dead key fob battery but I have read key fob problems with the X Types too

 

i opened up the key fob but cannot see where the battery is or how to replace it?

 

I think it's under the circuit board the same as the s type, there is one screw you need to take out to remove the board.
If not if you look at the top of the forum page there is a link to download the handbook, there are pictures in that which will help.

 

there is no visible circuit board, you open it up and its all black plastic, i'll download the handbook, but if anyone has the answer i'd appreciate it

 

unable to download the handbook so i def need instructions, i don't want to break any tabs holding the thing together :+)

 

curiosity got the better of me!...after opening the fob, there is a small indent inside for a small flatblade driver, i quick twist in there opened it up and revealed the circuit board, removed the tiny screw and the battery is underneath

 

It's probably your popup blocker stopping it when you get to the last step, try holding down Ctrl as you click it.

I've had problems getting it open too but it does work. There's a lot of useful info in there.

 

i already tried disabling the popup blocker and holding down the ctrl key.
I think i may have downloaded it on my other laptop a week or 2 ago

Good luck with a battery, those remote tend to go bad from moisture, and static electricty. Go to ebay to buy 1, and theres a proceedure here to program new remotes to the car for all but Stypes

 

Battery is CR2032.
You can get a replacement remote in EBay for cheap.
Got mine from remotes 4 less...I think.

 

can you point me in the direction of programming instructions?....the new battery did not work, found one on ebay cheap
