I thought you all might like to know. I just bought a 2005 xtype that did not have the standard key. It came with two keys, however, neither of them had a remote. I called my local dealer, and found they would order one for just over $400. Bargain!

While at my local walmart I found a universal key fob remote that said it would work for a Jaguar xk 2002-2005. I decided the $27 was worth a chance. I had to put in a code for it to pair with the xk and then I followed the process to pair with my x-type. Voila! I now have a remote for my car.
