Key Stuck and Shifter Wont Go Shift down to 4, 3, or 2...Please Help!!!
I have a couple problems with my Jaguar 2002 X-Type,
I got it from a used car dealership Yesterday.
I knew I was taking a risk in buying it.
Well these are the following issues that I have so far.
The first issue is that I can't get the key out of the ignition unless I unplug the battery.
Secondly, the transmission is automatic and it looked in great condition,
but my shifter won't go to gears 4, 3, nor 2. It's only driveable on D.
I drove it for a while and then when I was about to park I forced the shifter to 4
and radiador fluid came out. I'm not sure if its related to it or just a coincidence.
Any help is appriciated it. Thank you in advance for your reply.

I took it to a my mechanic but he is not going to be able to look at it until tomorrow. I didn't want to drive it, so i called the tow truck, and the driver said it was radiador fluid, but it was redish and oily, not thick like regular oil. He said that newers cars have redish radiador fluid, so i believed him.
The mechanic at the dealership from where i bought it from told me that a cup of transmission fluid came out when he replaced the axle, but it wasn't enough to affect it.
My mechanic mention a possible transmission cable.

It all depends what's a cup to him? A BIG cup of transmission fluid can certainly affect the life of your transmission. Find out where your oil leak is coming from before you get screwed again. Also remember that at a dealership, they're always going to try to cohere you to a lemon. Especially a used car where you sign a million and a half papers saying that the sell is AS IS!

Yesterday, I went to get my car. Good news and bad news. The liquid was indeed radiador fluid, it was coincidence that a wose broke. The problem with the key still exist. He took the shifter apart and found a broken part. He said that inorder to get if fixed he would need to order the entire shifter mechanism, ($250 + $150 labor). However I can now move to the other gears: 4th, 3rd, and 2nd. He also mention that this is the most common sense solution but that there's still the possibility of a transmission cable.
I was thinking that for the mean time I would be able to unplug a fuse to disable the interlock, but I can't seem to figure it, if anybody has any ideas on a temporary or even a different idea from the mechanic, I don't feel like its necessary to order the entire mechanism if all i need its a broken part.
