Detected a coolant leak from this hose which is near the oil filter..
Please refer to the pic 📸..
Can someone please tell me what the name of this hose is called please..
Forgive my ignorance lol..
And is this hose readily available??

Mike, that would appear to be coming out the bottom of the thermostat. That should be a generic hose that you can purchase at any auto parts place. Worst case, you can buy say a 6 inch piece of generic hose and then cut it to length. Unfortunately, to replace that hose, you are going to pretty much drain your entire coolant system.

MIke, the hoses are made in generic sizes. Measure the outside diameter and then the length of the hose and the local shop will be able to find something that will work for you.

 

It's best to remove the hose first and hand it to the guy in the radiator show and tell him: That's what I need. That is easiest.
And apparently it is good idea to use hoses, which are specifically for coolant. Last time I was in a shop with a lot of fuel and oil-hoses, they had the size I needed, but advised me to go to the radiator shop, to buy specifically a radiator hose. And yes, that stuff should come by the meter. And if one of your hoses fails, have a close look at your other hoses, too.. I have a coolant leak currently as well, but I figured it's the seal of the water pump or the water pump. on Austr. ebay, the seal was A$35, and the pump with seal was A$39 (on special)... - guess what I just ordered...

 

My XJ8 had a slow coolant leak from a combination hose, but it wasn't a fitting leak.
The hose when attached and secured must have been internally damaged letting coolant reach the reinforcing webbing of the hose core, then it was gradually wicking its way through the inside of the hose wall to eventually emerge at the end and create beads of coolant.

 

​​​​​​​Hi...​​​​​​​just a update on my coolant issues I posted about a few days ago...​​​​​​​it is rectified now .. looks like it was a damaged thermostat, which caused the hose to split under pressure...​​​​​​​new thermostat and hose was replaced..​​​​​​​$200 later and it's all fixed ( touch wood lol ) ​​​​​​​thanks again fot everyone's input and advice.
