Default Leaper ripped off

It's finally happened: I've owned 12 Jags, all except my E-type with a leaper on the bonnet, and for the first time a car-wash has ripped one off my X-type.

How do I get it back on?

The leaper itself, and the bonnet, don't seem to be damaged. The leaper has a 1/4-inch square base, which fits into a square hole in the bonnet. There is a hole through this base, and through the hole is a piece of wire which seems to have broken in half or corroded through.

Also, when I raised the bonnet to inspect what had happened, I found a coil spring, about 1/4-1/2" in diameter and about 1 1/2" long, which I think is also part of the fixing.

Any advice gratefully received.

Purchase a new leaper, install it and have the car wash management pay for it.

Part number is C2S50920. The price is 72$US from S.N.G. Barratt.

As a Brit, leave it off; never looked appropriate to me.
Plus you'll save about 17 cents a year in loss of drag.

the leapers are fragile and break easy. I would suggest replacing it if you can get it done at the cost of the car wash (in the states its $400 for a leaper). but i also fear it could get stolen in the near future (happened to me about 6 times).
