Load Thump when let clutch out in reverse only
Looking at a 2004 manual shift with 107k. Looks and drives like new except for one issue. When letting the clutch out in reverse there is a "thump" as if something is moving until it hits a stop. Sounds like it is the body that is being hit. No such issue in forward gears, even if I "rock" the drive train with on and off throttle application.
My best guess is either the rear "anti-rotation" mount or perhaps the drive shaft center bearing mounting Doesn't sound like it is in the TC or Transmission. Anyone have such an issue ?
Thanks

You would never know there was a problem. Car is tight and nimble over all types of surfaces. I've got 40 years of driving all manner of race and street cars so usually I pick up on handling issues. No hint of a problem other than in reverse. And it goes back straight, just has the "thump" as the clutch engages. That is why I thought of the rear "anti-rotation" mount since the drive shaft bearing, I would think, would have slack in both directions. Maybe not .
Most motors rotate counter clockwise so the torque reaction should then be lifting clockwise under normal operation, while in reverse the push back torque reaction from the drive train on the motor would be in the opposite direction. Not sure how that effects the mount though so that is why I am checking to see if anyone else had such a situation. Price on the car is going down each week as it isn't selling.
