Default Long beep from backup sensor when starting

When I start the car, I'm getting a long single tone from the reverse sensors...nothing behind the, and not in reverse.

The reverse sensors are also not operating, but I believe that is a bad sensor issue.

Will a bad sensor set a tone like that at startup?

The long beep is to signal that you have a malfunction. It should quit once repairs are made to the system. If you have some one put the vehicle in reverse and you listen closely to each of the sensors they should have a clicking/ticking noise indicating the sensor is working. The bad one will be silent. Before pulling out the sensor check the wiring and plug for damage. Also the 2 farthest outboard are different from the middle ones.

You do realize that the Reverse Parking Aid module logs faults for you to help in diagnosing the problem!!!

I had completely forgotten about that...and thought about it a little while ago. The iCarSoft read the codes...defective right outer sensor.

Since the old car is about 60 feet away, I'll bet I can steal the sensor from that car!

Thanks!
