Default Looks like its going to need a heater core

So I did the whole take apart the cabin filter system and clean and replace cabin filter. This did not help the fogging problem. If I run the heat and no defrost the interior fogs up in about 2 minutes. I think there is no doubt that the heater core is going out. Any tips on replacement and any help with where to buy the part? Thanks guys.

Can't remember..Did you say you DID or DID NOT smell any coolant inside the car when this foggingwas happening?

If NO COOLANT SMELL..then the only other thing it could be is the Recirculate damper door is stuck in RECIRCULATE...still a pain in the butt to remove and fix.

In the mean time, crack open the two rear windows about an inch or less.

Dennis I really can't smell anything. A passenger said the same thing but the passenger was guessing that Jag coolant may not have a scent?

What do you mean by the recirculate door being stuck? That would make sense as to the fogging but how do I check that I should ask?

What about damaged seals around the cabin eg door seals?

My windows fog fairly quickly if I don't run defrost or at least direct the airflow to the windshield.

Are you actually losing antifreeze? If you do direct the air to the windshield, does it get greasy feeling? If your heater core is really leaking, you should be smelling antifreeze.

There's no doubt that you'll get a strange and unfamiliar odour if your core is leaking... not to mention a drop in coolant levels.
Unless you have a strange odour it is almost a certifiable guarantee that it is 'not' your heater core.

I have been noticing a really weird smell also when I run my heater or defogger.. It smells.. "wet"
I dont know what it is.. I was thinking maybe my cabin filter was clogged..
But do you guys think it could be my heater core also?
It does look kind of greasy on my side windows when I first start the defogger and its like half the window but then it goes away..
damn..
I find out I may have 2 problems on the same day!

Antifreeze vapor deposited on windows will not "go away"; it will remain greasy feeling and tough to wipe off.

Are you actually losing antifreeze?

Perhaps your drain is clogged and condensate is backing up. Does your car leave a water puddle where it is parked (after running A/C)?
