Default loud radiator fans

Hello guys,I have an 03 x-type with loud radiator fans that sound like a jet plane while driving & run for a couple seconds after the car is turned off. Do I need to replace the whole fan assembly or just the fan module?

i had this issue and when i checked i realized it was one fan that was working. the connection from the module to another fan was loose. pushed it back and both fans started working and the loud sound was gone.

konshu, from what you are describing, I would first check to see that all the blades on the fans are in place. Even a small nick in a blade can cause it to be unbalanced, leading to excessive noise. Granted, if the fans simply kick on to full speed any time the fans are needed, then odds are you are looking at a fan module that is starting to go.

Problem could be the control module is receiving a hot engine condition and is running the fans at max speed. These things sound like a B29 at take off when running on high.
