Exclamation Low Cost Preventative Maintenance

Hey Guys,

Since I am new with Jags, and I have had mine for about 3 weeks, I wanted to share some minor, LOW-COST preventative maintenance you can be doing to stay ahead of any mechanical nightmares. I did these items mostly for peace of mind and because I want my Jag to be trouble free:

1) IMT O-Rings: They cost me $3.50 each (2 of them needed) and I replaced them myself in 20 minutes - fixed a major vacuum leak I had which set off my CEL.

2) Cabin Filter & Air Filter: Cost me $26 for the Cabin and $14 for the Air. Keeps the air to the cabin fresh and the other keeps unblocked airflow to the engine... Installed both myself in less than 30 min.

3) Fuel Filter: Cost me $11 for the part, and $22.50 to have it installed (I didn't know what to do, so I paid someone). Keeps clean gas going to the engine.

4) Serpentine Belt: Cost me $135 installed (which may or may be considered "low cost") You definitely want to have this belt checked out every few oil changes. It controls so many systems, so if it breaks, you will be stuck on the side of the road over-heated. A tow will cost you about $100 to $150 so why not just put that toward a new belt...?

5) Coolant Flush: Cost me $70 to have the Coolant drained, more Coolant added, then drained, and then refilled. Now is the PERFECT time to do this because it should be done before winter for added protection.

6) Transfer Case: Cost me $89 (a special at Aamco) to have the TC oil drained and refilled. With this being the weakest link for the X-Types, I want to do anything I can to keep it lubricated.

So if you are new to owning a Jag, or you are like me, a person who doesn't always focus on car maintenance...you could do these simple jobs to really maintain your Jag well...

If I missed any TO DO items that are either "EASY" or "LOW-COST", please do share them here...

Oil change and the Fuel Filter (never done them sorry)I think was also easy both only have one bolt if I remember correctly and that saves a bit of money.
