Default Lowered!

Just got the x type back from the garage today, new bushes, drop links and lowered springs. Dropped 40mm and looks awsome just how a jag should look. The ride is no different, you can feel the bumps more on the 19" rims but wow what an improvement. Thanks to Exexpat for the advice on spacers and tyre size he knows his stuff!

Nice! I like the wheels. Looks clean. Can you take on with a full straight on of the side of the car?

Hi Dennis, thanks for the comments as for the springs i had the originals made lower (not cut) company in sheffield UK heat them up in lead and re tension them somehow!. I have used him a few times now and they work perfect all four for under £100 including re powder coat. The ride is the same as before but lower : ) im well pleased with the over all result. And as i said before thanks to exexpat for his advice on spacers offsets and tyre sizes. It all just works as if it rolled out the factory like it.

This is the first time I've read that the spings can be "re-coiled", I wonder if in time, they will return to their old tension. I'm a new x-type owner as well, and having a hell of a time finding lowering springs on this side of the planet (Hong Kong).

There are companies that do this in Australia. Apparently, a spring can be reworked up to three times.

I've done this when cutting lowering springs with pigtails on top and bottom. It is certainly possible and if a shop specializes in it, it is a valid approach.

Can you post the link to exexpat's thread. I am looking to get some rims and tires and I was looking for threads that had them broken down. Thanks

What kind of wheels do you have OP? Man it is hard to find wheels for the X Type I have $900 bucks to spend. Also what do you all think about cutting springs?
