Default lowering springs vs stock sport (is there a difference?)

Just as the title states, I want to know if lowering springs would bring my car lower than the stock sport springs that came with it from the factory. I don't really want to waste time and money if I'm only going to get an 1/8" of drop. Thanks in advance

disguay, the question you ask is relative to the manufacturer of the springs. But, for the most part, what you are going to find out is the drop springs are going to be about the same height as the sport springs. So, no, you are not going to gain anything substantial by installing drop springs over sport springs. The only possible gain you may have is a slight change in the spring rate which can help in cornering, but would also make for a rougher ride. But again, that is dependent from manufacturer to manufacturer.

They will. I have had H&Rs in my Sport and they lowered the car an inch or so.

Cool! I found the H&R's on ebay for only $250 so I think that's what I'm going to do!

Handling is better, ride is no worse

Here's how she sits over standard 205/55/16s

Rear is trivial, but front is hard because you need to compress the spring while it is in the fender and then you need to pry open the bottom knuckle to lift the [essentially ring-clamped] strut assembly out. Recommendation is Harbor Freight spring compressors ($10 for the pair).

ok, I've read from others that they installed the kit and saw no drop in the front but a considerable amount of drop in the back. Has anyone experienced this?

Why do you keep doubting me?

Proof with H&R springs:

Factory Sport Suspension:

Yes, the wheels above are 20 inch, but the overall diameter of the tires are the same as the 17s pictured here. Look at top of tires to fender in my photo versus the one below it.

dope. I'm going for it! I might need to take out a bit of the plastic fender well in the back to make room for my winter wheels because they have a very high backspacing, but after some doubling checking I will be on it

Expat how bad was front lip dragging after lowering. I drag bad enough now with stock height on sport stock setting. But I'd love to drop it an in or so on stock rim size

To be honest it wasn't on long after I did H&Rs, then I went to air ride suspension and drive about 1-1.5" lower than the H&Rs and I'm good.

I hate to bump an old thread, but does anyone know the actual spring rates for "comfort," sport, H&R, and Eibach? I come from the BMW world and we have an actual breakdown of spring rates for the front and rear of each vehicle so we know which application would be best for our setup.
